THE WHY BEHIND THE RHINO RUN

EVERY KILOMETRE COUNTS FOR MORE THAN THE FINISH LINE

The Rhino Run was born from a love of Africa: its vast landscapes, its hard roads and its people. It only feels right that the race gives something back to the continent that makes it possible.

All proceeds from the Rhino Run go to two incredible organisations: Masaka Cycling Club in Uganda and Team Amani in East Africa. Both are using the bicycle to open doors for African riders, and both are building something that will last long after the last rider rolls into the finish.

MASAKA CYCLING CLUB, UGANDA

Based in Masaka City in central Uganda, Masaka Cycling Club exists to create fair and equal opportunities for cycling talent in developing African nations.

The region is full of extraordinary riders, both women and men, but talent alone isn’t enough. Poverty, a lack of food and clean water, limited medical care, unsafe roads and little access to equipment or races stand between these riders and their potential. The club works to break down those barriers, giving young riders a safe place to train, race and chase their dreams. Its programme for girls and young women is producing podium finishers in open races across Uganda and inspiring the next generation.

TEAM AMANI, EAST AFRICA

Team Amani is East Africa’s trailblazing UCI Continental team, bringing together top riders from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and beyond to compete at the highest level of the sport.

Co-founded by the late Kenyan cyclist Sule Kangangi and Mikel Delagrange, the team was built on a simple idea: East Africa has produced the world’s greatest runners, so why not its greatest cyclists? Amani riders now line up at the world’s biggest gravel and mountain bike events, and they race to win. Their goals are bold: an all-African women’s team at the start of the Tour de France Femmes, and an all-African men’s team invited to the Tour de France.

A LEGACY BEYOND THE RHINO RUN

The race lasts a few weeks. The impact lasts much longer.

Every penny raised helps put bikes under riders, kit on their backs and race numbers on their jerseys. It funds coaching, travel and safe spaces to ride. It helps turn raw talent into careers, and careers into role models.

When you take on the Rhino Run, you’re not just racing across Africa. You’re helping to shape the future of African cycling.
